Digital health applications (DiGAs)

Improving healthcare provision through

Digital health applications (DiGAs) are a vital element of the digitalization of the healthcare system in Germany. In December 2019, the Digital Health Care Act (DVG) came into force, allowing health apps to be prescribed on prescription. Some of these DiGAs have been available since October 2020 and support patients in diagnosing, monitoring, treating their diseases. Insight into the current status on the Digital Health Act and experiences of the stakeholders involved will be provided at the 9th MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM on Wednesday, 17 November.

Mental health and neuromedicine

The integration of artificial intelligence in the neurological intensive care unit can influence the treatment approach of patients. For example, a stroke patient in the emergency room can be assessed by automated triage based on the pattern assessment of hundreds of thousands of patients with corresponding symptoms. Here, AI helps diagnose the severity of the acute condition and assists in deciding whether an inpatient admission is required.

However, the use of AI and technology-assisted methods can also help with neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, or mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety.

On Thursday, 18 November 2021, the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM will feature new technology-based approaches to neuromedicine and mental health, from machine learning to virtual reality solutions and neuro-biomarkers.
